Chief Operating Officer
Mike began his financial career in banking, managing a branch office and setting up bank investment programs. He is a graduate of Wichita State University and holds five securities registrations, as well as life and variable insurance licenses.
Prior to joining Sound Income Strategies, Mike headed the development of his previous firm, a full-service independent broker-dealer and Registered Investment Advisor. In that role, he brought more than 25 years of experience to helping financial advisors and agents serve their clients with strict adherence to regulatory guidelines. Over his 6-year tenure, the firm grew to over 150 advisors and over $1.2 billion in assets.
Prior to starting the BD/RIA, Mike was the head of compliance for a Super OSJ. He has also previously held a senior-level management position at an independent broker-dealer. Before that, Mike spent 10 years in the field as an independent financial advisor, serving 300 household clients.
Mike enjoys the constant challenges he faces each day in helping advisors navigate a variety of regulatory challenges and providing them with access to the information, support, and products they need to protect and serve their clients more effectively. His on-call approach and calm demeanor illustrate his passion to understand the wants and needs of each agent he works with and develop long-term relationships built on integrity and trust.
Because of his vast experience, Mike has a deep understanding of agents and advisors in the field, as well as an extensive knowledge of compliance and regulation. This helps him provide a superior level of service and protection that SIS advisors and clients can count on.
Mike was a long-time Kansas boy prior to moving to South Florida. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, hiking 14ers, boating and of course, the beach.
Chief Compliance Officer
Eric Lutton, CFA
Chief Investment Officer
Eric began his career trading equity options on the floor of the Chicago Board Options Exchange in 1997, where he learned the power and protective attributes of derivative instruments. Shortly after leaving the Chicago trading pits for a trading floor at a large money manager, Conceso Capital, Eric worked with fixed income veterans, managing over $35 billion on behalf of Institutional Investors. While employed at Conseco Capital, he was exposed to all fixed income asset classes and assisted in the management of pension fund, foundation, and endowment monies. After plenty of cold winters in the Midwest, Eric accepted an offer and moved to South Florida. Here he worked for a boutique RIA firm, Levitt Capital Management, as an Equity and Fixed Income Analyst. Later he was offered the role of Portfolio Manager/Analyst for Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust. During this time, Eric obtained a Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute. After many years on the “buy side” of the financial industry, Eric had the opportunity to work on the “sale side” at JVB Financial, covering institutional and RIA clients for fixed income securities.
Eric helps lead the investment strategy at Sound Income Strategies and works closely with David and Ryan to ensure that our clients are meeting their investment goals without having to worry about market turmoil and gyrations. His many years of experience in portfolio management and analysis help the Sound Income Strategies team determine what securities best meet the client’s risk tolerance and return expectations.
Ryan came to Sound Income Strategies immediately after graduating with a B.S. in Finance from the University of South Carolina. He originally had his mind set on pursuing an accounting degree to follow his father into the private equity field, but the financial collapse of 2008 changed his thinking. His 80-year-old grandfather had told him about the stocks he held in the retirement accounts with his broker that had lost over 40% during the collapse. Even as a freshman in college, Ryan knew his grandfather should not have been 100% in the market at his age. Ryan immediately switched degree paths and began to focus on gaining a deeper understanding of the financial markets, the field of financial advisory, and money management.
Ryan helps Eric and Dave by heading all trading that is completed for every SIS client, and assists the various Investment Advisor Representatives of Sound Income Strategies with operational issues or questions their clients may have. He is currently a Registered Investment Advisor rep and a June Level II candidate for the CFA designation after successfully passing the Level I back in December of 2015.
Keely joined Sound Income Strategies in January of 2017. Continuously influenced and inspired by her older brother, who works in finance, she decided that the financial field was the most realistic place for her to utilize her sales and communication abilities. Past experiences as a Junior Analyst in the fashion industry and managerial responsibilities in sports medicine have afforded Keely the skills needed to become a valued team member and resource for our Advisors. She is currently studying Business and Finance at Palm Beach State College.
Keely supports Eric and Ryan with any operational issues. She also handles any questions Investment Advisor Representatives or clients might have regarding client services.
